about

When front man Jesse Lynn-Dean wrote the lyric to "Free Country" in 1977 he never thought the words would be just as pertinent today as they were in 1977! What do you think ?

FREE COUNTRY recorded 1977

lyrics

You can't get a drink after 3 o'clock
You mustn't have a party in your high rise block
You can't even walk along the streets at night
‘Cos nobody believes that the kids are alright

It's a free free free free free free free country
Free free free free free free free country

You can't say much on the radio
‘Cos if the Beeb get upset they say go Johnny go
You mustn't upset the man at the top
But when they say no go you gotta stop stop stop

It's a free free free free free free free country
Free free free free free free free country

You can do what you like if they like what you do
You can stay at home and buy a TV too
Forget all the things you wanted to be
Monday morning 9 o'clock not for me

It's a free free free free free free free country
Free free free free free free free country
Free free free free free free free country
Free free free free free free free country
Free free free free free free free country
